It’s been a year since the global COVID-19 pandemic began turning our industry and our lives upside down, and CWA airline agents have been on the front lines at stations across the country. Recently we had a chance to talk to some American and Piedmont agents who have been in the trenches, dealing with COVID-19 and other health and safety issues.
A total of 250 passenger service agents received scholarships from the CWA National Education and Training Trust CWA/NETT) in the past few months. The agents took advantage of the funds to pursue new knowledge and brush up on valuable skills.
The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the American Rescue Plan, which includes extension of the Payroll Support Program (PSP) through September 30, 2021. It's now time to make sure the Senate passes the bill to maintain our jobs before PSP expires in mid-March!
In September 2019, AFA-CWA President Sara Nelson spoke on the topic of assaults on passenger service agents before a U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Aviation.
Thousands of Flight Attendants at Delta Air Lines are fighting to join our CWA family by becoming members of AFA-CWA. As passenger service agent members of CWA, we support Delta flight attendants in their fight for a voice on the job.
As of March 1, 2020, Envoy employees will be required to wear new Lands’ End uniforms unless management makes a short-term exception.
Employees affected by this transition are those currently wearing a cross-functional or tailored uniform. The transition will result in adjustments to members' allotments.

CWA passenger service agents worked hard last year to get language included in the FAA Reauthorization Act to protect agents from assault. The language included in the act ensures that airlines will develop clear procedures for reporting verbal and physical abuse of agents, will immediately notify law enforcement, and will stop passengers involved in violent incidents from proceeding onto aircraft before law enforcement has assessed the situation.

In June 2019 CWA Next Generation and District 3 co-sponsored a new training targeted to the needs of young union members. The participants included two passenger service agents, Jasiman Turner (Piedmont, CLT) and Richard Sanjuan (AA, MIA).

CWA has received the results of the vote on ratification of the tentative agreement between our union and Envoy from BallotPoint, the independent company conducting the election. Passenger service agents have voted to ratify the tentative agreement.

Tragedy visited our CWA Agents family on Sunday, August 11, when passenger service agent Kendrick Darrell Hudson died on the job at Charlotte Douglas International airport. Agents honored his memory at a vigil on August 18.

CWA has received the results of the vote on ratification of the tentative agreement between our union and Envoy from BallotPoint, the independent company conducting the election. Passenger service agents have voted to ratify the tentative agreement. Representatives of our union will sign the agreement tomorrow, August 15, and wage increases will take effect on August 31. Ratification bonuses will appear in paychecks dated September 13.
